Swim Online Makes A Splash
Swimming Australia has contracted online technology provider IMG Sports Technology Group in a move that will enable it to become a unifying force in taking the industry’s administrative and communications capability to a new level.
In addition to creating websites for the national and state/territory bodies as well as for local clubs (who all have the ability to manage their own content), Swimming Australia aims to create a national ‘Swim Online’ database that will enable membership subscriptions, online entry for meets and events, and results, rankings and records. Amongst other applications, Swim Online will have the capacity to manage volunteers online, provide media management, and improve communication to members.
“Given the amount of day-to-day business that is now conducted online it makes perfect sense for us to implement Swim Online. Our aim is to make it easier for our clubs and members to manage their details, be it registering to participate in an event or simply renewing their membership,” says Swimming Australia CEO, Glenn Tasker, whose organisation is responsible for almost 100,000 members in more than 1,100 swimming clubs around Australia.
With the websites already having been launched, membership services and database management went online in Victoria and South Australia on May 6, with the remaining states and territories to follow in the coming months.
“Swimming Australia is a valuable addition to our client list as it runs from beginner to elite and stretches to every corner of Australia. Swim Online will offer a single online solution for all Swimming Australia member and club services, as well as aggregating all member information on a national database,” says IMG Sports Technology Group’s Brian Cooney.
