Floorball – An innovative sport using an innovative product
Floorball is an action packed, fast paced indoor sport that is spreading across the world since its birth in 1970. A sport initiated in Europe as an alternative to hockey, Floorball blends the greatest elements of ice hockey with some characteristics also found in soccer and basketball.
In 1986 the International Floorball Federation was founded and with continued growth the sport made its way to the shores of Australia. The Australian Floorball Association was formed in 1996 and has overseen strong growth in its 13 years of existence.
In 2009 the National Association set about the task of finding a solution to their registration processes, looking for an online registration system that could reduce the administrative workload for National, State and Club administrators with the capability of taking online payments and automatically allocating funds to each entity. The Australian Floorball Association found the IMG Sports Technology Group product, with its strong reputation in providing online services to tiered entities, the solution of choice.
